Sam from 1st Bramhall has achieved three Scouts top awards: the Queen's Scout Award, the Scouts of the World Award and the Explorer Belt. He has also completed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. It's a remarkable set of achievements, and we couldn't be prouder.

Three Scouts top awards

Queen's Scout Award, 2022. Sam received his Queen's Scout Award at our county presentation. It's one of the highest awards a young person can earn in Scouts, and it recognises years of commitment, service and challenge. The award has since been renamed the King's Scout Award.

Scouts of the World Award, 2023. Sam's project focused on protecting our moorlands and raising awareness of them. As part of it, he created an identification guide to help people recognise the wildlife they might see, complete with his own illustrations, including a tortoiseshell butterfly.

Explorer Belt, 2026. Earlier this year, Sam and his Explorer Belt team set off from Bregenz Scout Hall in Austria on an expedition that took them across the Swiss–German border more than once. The Explorer Belt asks teams to plan their own journey, explore a new culture and look after each other along the way. Sam says the photo of his team outside the hall in Bregenz is one of his favourites.

Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Before all of this, Sam completed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award in 2020. Gold DofE takes real determination, combining volunteering, physical activity, skills, an expedition and a residential project.

Well done, Sam

Sam's story shows what Scouts is all about: trying new things, helping others and building skills for life. Congratulations, Sam, on everything you've achieved. We can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you.
