Round up of year’s training

Climbing and steep ground; were not full.
Kayaking; 10 attended and 2 gained permits.
Keith attended the first regional Activity meeting for some time outside the full regional meeting in February. It is hoped that the counties in the region will work closer together from now on and measures were discussed to enable this to happen.
The major thing to come out of the meeting for GME was the procedure for boat certificates which is not active in GME. We discussed this and although some districts do still have a process of issuing certificates they are not recorded or verified by county as it was thought they should be. Andrew Hill is to check if this is the correct procedure before we progress with trying to rectify this situation. Tim is to find out what North Tameside and Tameside do, we also need to find out what Linnet Clough , Ladybrook and Stockport do.
HQ have since confirmed that boats should be independently certified every 3 years by counties.
GME Activity team structure
We had a discussion about changing the way the team is structures. Andrew proposed that each discipline i.e. climbing, water & hillwalking had independent teams. The meeting decided that they preferred the setup as it is at present.
The county now has an active support unit called GME live who it is hoped in time will support activity delivery at county level, GedBroughtonis heading it up.
