Basic training requirement for members

  • None, if you have already completed training
  • For all others, Essential Information, module 1 is required.  Opportunities to complete the learning for this module is available in the current learning opportunities guide or online here.  A personal learning plan available to complete and attend one of the Getting Started validation evenings shown in the learning opportunities guide or online here or ask a training adviser to complete the personal learning plan to validate the module.

Training Advisers

  • Essential information, module 1 as above.
  • Assessing Learning, module 25, validated for Training Advisers.
  • A personal learning plan is available for the role that outlines this requirement and gives the recording of the validation eveidence. Download TA personal learning plan.
  • Opportunities to attend a session, such as the adults in Scouting course can be found in the the learning opportunities guide or online here.
  • The training adviser for TAs is Barbara Murphy and validation should be arranged with her.  Barbara will also give you further guidance as needed and responsible for the ongoing monitoring of Wood Badge standards.

Course or session presenters

  • Presenting, module 29 needs completing.
  • Learning is available on demand.
  • To validate this module, complete the trainers relevant module within the trainers personal learning plan. Download trainer personal learning plan.
  • Completing and validating this will be done with you over a series of two or three sessions that you are supporting. 
  • Email gmelearning@gmail.com to request a training adviser for this module, if one has not been assigned. The training adviser will be experienced with the module content and give you further guidance as needed.

Residential course tutors, small group facilitators or one to one leads

  • Facilitating, module 28 needs completing.
  • Learning is available on demand.
  • To validate this module, complete the trainers relevant module within the trainers personal learning plan. Download trainer personal learning plan.
  • Completing and validating this will be done with you over a series of two or three sessions that you are supporting.

Course manager

  • Planning a learning experience, module 31 needs completing.
  • Managing a learning experience, module 32 needs completing.
  • Learning is available on demand.
  • To validate this module, complete the trainers relevant module within the trainers personal learning plan. Download trainer personal learning plan.
  • Completing and validating this will be done with you over a series of two or three sessions that you are supporting.

First Aid trainer, to be able to run First Response courses

  • Facilitating, module 28 needs completing.
  • Presenting, module 29 needs completing.
  • Hold a vaild Full First Aid certificate.
  • Or be an externally qualified first aid trainer.
  • Or complete the British Red Cross Trainer Training Course.
  • To validate these modules, complete the trainers relevant modules within the trainers personal learning plan. Download trainer personal learning plan.
  • Completing and validating this will be done with you over a series of two or three sessions that you are supporting.
