Joining the Wood Badge Scout Active Support Unit

Membership is open to all those who help with training across Greater Manchester East as shown in our service agreement.  You may help in various roles depending upon your skills and desire, such as;

  • course assistants - helping organise and support the smooth running of a course
  • training advisers - helping people through their training
  • local training contacts - helping match learners with training advisers, identifying training advisers and supporting with local issues
  • course manager - manage a staff team
  • course tutors - facilitate a small group on a residential weekend
  • presenters - plan and deliver training for a course or a session
  • small group lead - facilitate learning for a small group on demand
  • one to one lead - facilitate learning for an individual on demand
  • managers, administrators and co-ordinators - lead teams and develop the training scheme

To apply to join complete

  • either an AA form, if you do not have an existing role in Scouting
  • or a CR form if this will be an additional or changed role.

Additional membership notes:
  • You have a choose as joing as members full members of The Scout Association or as an associate member.
  • Members may wear the green Scout Active Support polo shirt with county neckerchief, and this will be standard wear for course teams. The Scout Active Support Badge is available for wear on uniform.
  • The unit holds social and update events regularly.
  • Yearly national membership fees will be paid for those holding no other role, but feel free to make a donation for these dependent upon the level of support you give and financial considerations. If you hold another substancial role, yearly national membership should be paid through that structure.
  • Personal development opportunities are offered along with some training requirements depending upon the role. Find out more...
