Scouts

Keys to success for Scout Troops:

  1. Review your programme annually, checking coverage of all zones and methods.

  2. Use the award scheme to help support your programme and ensure your Scouts aspire to achieving the Chief Scouts Gold Award.

  3. All leaders (including Young Leaders) take an active part in running the Troop.

  4. Make young peoples participation central to what you do, such as holding a regular Troop forum.

  5.  Find opportunities for your Scouts to take part in activities with Scouts from elsewhere.

Role of County

The remit of the team is to support and develop a quality Scouting programme for the young people in the area. To help us focus upon what will make a difference across the County we focus on 5 areas:

  1. Widening opportunities for young people with events
  2. Programme and activity support – ensuring quality Scouting for all young people
  3. Targeted programme development support – focused on areas
  4. Recognition for our young people and adults
  5. Involving young people
We do this by supporting ADCs, holding County Support Team meetings open to all, organising key events and leading on new initiatives.
